The Etsy Counter is Goofed Up....

FYI - Etsy has issued an announcement stating they're updating their systems (to improve the website they say). In the meantime, their updates have messed up the counters which track how many views each of the items have. I want to assure everyone that the items listed under the "100 Views Sale" ARE indeed 20% off. Ignore the views noted by Etsy. I know each of these items has over 100 views and still want to pass these great savings on to you :0). So, please check out this GREAT SALE and hopefully Etsy will have the site fixed soon!!

Fantasy Football Mania!!

I don't know how many of you have either participated in or been witness to the world of "Fantasy Football", but I experienced things last night that I've never seen before.....

First, let me say that I LOVE FOOTBALL!! I went to college in Indiana (years ago when Peyton Manning first became an Indianapolis Colt and they were HORRIBLE!!), so I am a die-hard Colts fan!! Naturally, my boyfriend thought me joining his Fantasy league was a must this season. (I think he felt bad for being glued to the TV (or multiple ones more often than not) for all of Sunday and Monday night. So, he thought if I was involved, it would solve everything. Smart guy!!).

I was completely unprepared for what I witnessed last night - grown men stressing out over who to select as their 1st pick, yelling, viewing pages of statistical print-outs, and high-fiving each other as if they were actually going to make the NFL plays themselves. They were like a bunch of school girls at a Barbie convention!! I've never seen anything like it!!

The best though was when I made my picks. On several occassions when I made my picks, I heard gut-wrenching, "Uugh!! That was going to be my pick",'s. It was like I stabbed them in the heart after I stole their dog or something. And I must admit - I liked it!! (Lets just say these guys didn't think a blonde with big boobs who works with mentally retarded people and makes jewelry during many sporting events would really know her football all that well). WRONG BOYS!!

Several lessons were learned from this.... The first being that men really do think they're Masters of their Universe (at least of picking a fantasy NFL team anyway). And it's cute! My boyfriend was so stressed out and focused that I couldn't help smile. The second lesson being that as long as you have a good pre-draft selection guide (AKA - cheat sheet) - you too can hang with the boys - and beat them. Hopefully they'll learn to never underestimate the determination of an equally stubborn, focused woman :0).

I LOVE Being on Vacation!!

This week I'm on vacation from work and I'm LOVING it!! (Birthday present to myself). Yesterday (Monday) I went to visit my parents, which was nice. We had lunch and hung out. :0). Today, I woke up and started to do a FIRM workout. I just wasn't feeling it. I couldn't wait to log onto Etsy and to start making jewelry. My boyfriend swears I'm going to be bored being off work this whole week, but I don't think I'm going to be.... It's so nice not to have the phone ringing non-stop and staff (I supervise about 35 of them) complaining. If the thunderstorms hold off, I may even go to the pool today here at my apartment complex.

Something I've already realized by being off this week - WE ALL NEED TO TAKE A LITTLE MORE TIME FOR OURSELVES!! I'm completely guilty of not doing that!! There's always something that needs done. Making jewelry fills that need for "my time" in a lot of ways, but even that feels like a job at times b/c I'm constantly pushing myself to list things on the website that I've made. (I LOVE the creating part. The computer part I'm not so keen on). Hopefully, in the future, I'll be better at taking time out of the day-to-day madness to relax - even if it's just for 10 minutes each day in the shower...

Successful Trunk Sale

Yesterday, I held a "trunk sale" at a party I went to. It was VERY successful!! I sold over 24 pairs of earrings, etc. from my website and have orders for several more pairs. So, I just want to say THANK YOU first of all to the Lord for blessing the sale/having so many sales. Also to Kathy and Holli for encouraging me to bring my "treasures" to the party to sell. Busy, Busy....

Things have been really busy the past few weeks with work, LOTS of focus on Etsy, and the typical day-to-day things!! I've discovered the forums on Etsy and I think I've become an addict!! It's so fun to log on and chat with other crafty folks. I even joined two groups - TBO (Tranquil Beading Oasis) and the Etsy Bloggers Street Team. The Etsy Bloggers group is just getting going, but the TBO group is well under way. Lots of VERY nice people in both groups - and lots of fun to talk to as well.....

I also became a registered SRAJD (Self-Representing Artist Jewelry Designer), which I'm excited about. I love meeting new people and getting the word out about the jewelry I'm designing.

I've listed A LOT of new jewelry pieces, as well as SALE Supplies!@!! Check them out - and buy, buy, buy!! I'm literally running out of room for all of these beads and earrings. (They've taken over the spare bedroom in my apartment). :0).

Series Update...

I don't know if it was the "Pink" and the "Malachite" Series that helped people find my website or what, but orders flowed in over the past week. That was a major blessing!! There will definitely be more series' in the future.

FYI - I just got a new shipment of beads in. LOTS of new gemstones and .925 Sterling Silver beads!! (About $400 worth to be exact - shhhh - don't tell my boyfriend). I have most gemstones that are on the market (and the ones I don't have, I can definitely get). So, I am now accepting custom orders. Simply convo me thru Etsy and I'll be happy to work with you to creat something you'll LOVE!!

A quick THANK YOU to Jo Anne, Eva, and Elaine for your purchases!! I hope you all enjoy your new "treasures". I also wanted to let everyone know that in the coming days, there will be several pairs of malachite earrings posted on my site. Malachite is a beautiful, vivid green colored gemstone. So far, I've made 4 pairs of earrings using these gemstones - in .925 Sterling Silver AND in 14K Gold Plate settings (my sister is always telling me to make more earrings using gold, so Holli, here you go). Going PINK!!

This past week, I wore a rose-colored shirt and discovered I had no earrings to match it. That inspired me to create some earrings with pink (rose) gemstones/beads. I must say, they turned out better than I expected!! So, this Sunday thru Wednesday (at least), I will be adding at least 1 pair of PINK earrings each day. ENJOY!!

Inventory Reduction SALE!!!

GREAT news for all fellow jewelry makers - I'm out of room for all my supplies so I'm selling some of my extras at great, low prices - AKA - less than what I paid for them! In the past two months I've spent WAY too much money buying numerous beads and gemstones (most of them very unique). When I came home, I had nowhere to put the gemstones I mentioned in my last blog. That's when I realized it was time to liquidate some inventory. Many of the beads I purchased came in 15" or 16" strands. I love the beads b/c they're unique, but I definitely don't need 20-40 of each of them. So, my overpurchasing is your gain. Don't miss out on these great gemstones/beads!!

It's Good to be Back!...

You might have noticed the announcement that I was out of town from 5/6/07 thru 5/13/07. During that time, I was in Cancun, Mexico for work. (I work with mentally retarded adults). We took 25 of them down to Cancun for our annual consumer (that's what we call the MR clients we serve) vacation. Talk about an adventure!! We visited the ancient Mayan Ruins (called Chitcha-Nitza), petted dolphins, -and tried to keep track of all our consumers!! Now that I'm back, I'm exhausted!! It was vacation for the consumers, but not for all the staff taking care of them. At least I was in the glorious sun for 7 days though.....

So, in the coming days/weeks there will be many more "treasures" listed on my website. (I received many new gemstones while I was gone). I just need to sleep a little more this week to get my creative juices flowing again :0). Stay tuned....

The Sun Finally Came Out in Ohio....

Something miraculous happened this weekend here in Ohio - the sun actually came out!! For the past few weeks, the weather has been crazy here. The week of Easter it was 70 degrees and sunny on a Wednesday, and two days later, it was snowing! So, needless to say, when the sun actually came out this past Saturday, I jumped at the chance to take some new pictures of my jewelry - ones that actually had some decent lighting.

I added the Cherry Drops earrings and Tan Mother of Pearl Drop earrings, updated the photos of the Chalcedony Sterling Silver Drop earrings, etc. The Lazuli Lapis Gemstone Hoops are so beautiful!! Some clouds hit when I was trying to photograph those (or maybe it was my 19-pound Maine Coon cat named "Bear" trying to "help" take the pictures. He's like a big, puffy black and white cloud). I'm going to try to take even better photos of them later this week (if the sun graces us with it's presence once again). So, for all of you who live in sun-starved regions like I do, I guess we'll just enjoy the nice weather when we have it :0).

My 1st blog...

My first blog! I've never done one of these before, so please bare with me. I'm excited though!! Hopefully this will help spread the word about my jewelry line, which can be found at www.StephaniesTreasures.etsy.com. I'd love to hear from fellow artists. Any advice or feedback - the positive and the constructive (like how I worded that?) would be appreciated.

A little bit about my jewelry line... I began making jewelry pretty recently actually. (I began doing it last month). My friend/co-worker has been doing it for a while and actually had us all over to her home about six months ago and taught us how to make our own earrings. I had been thinking about doing it on my own since then, but never did. Then, about a month ago, I started feeling like something was missing. I needed an outlet to express myself artistically/creatively. I went into a local craft store thinking I might want to try painting of all things. (I doubt I could paint to save my life, but thought it would be fun!!). While in there, I came across the bead/jewelry-making aisles (and never left). The next thing I knew, I had a whole cart full of earwires, beads, wire tools, etc.... Things snowballed from there. I discovered local Specialty bead shoppes, sources for gemstones, etc.

Currently, I have about 60 items for sale on my Etsy site. The jewelry line has been well received!! THANK YOU to all who have visited my Etsy store and to all who have purchased my lovely "treasures". Your patronage is appreciated!!
